This new neighborhood features a mix of historically inspired homes that reconnects folks with an era that was of fundamental significance to the development of many towns along the I & M canal, including Ottawa and Chicago. The I & M Canal was built by immigrants who settled in the area as canal builders. The canal project took twelve years to build and navigate — it was constructed by men where who were know as navigators, also referred to as Navvy’s. The neighborhood will include a mix of home styles for vacation, second home and full-time living.
The Lock Tender Cottage Homes feature 1,100 square feet, 2 bedrooms, 2.5 baths and an optional basement. A finished basement would expand the living space to offer more than 1,600 square feet of finished living space, 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths. Pricing for these homes is from the low $300's as of March 2022.
